8 reasons why you should workout this period, at home

Hi everybody, I hope all of you who are reading my article right now, you are doing alright and simply just taking the things how they are, day by day, with patience and hope.

Being o mother of two, these times can be difficult, yet they can be also most rewarding, it’s only a matter of perspective at the end of the day. Let me tell you a little bit about my journey during this pandemic worldwide period and how I managed to escape the overall fear and bring the peace and mental health back in my life via discipline with small habits.

After passing through some fear and panicked moments and days, I realized that it’s in our hands to change the little things that we can change, and just accept and adapt to what we cannot change. And those little things that we can change are our daily habits. Our habits make us, whether we want to accept this or not. And, the truth is, the sooner we accept this, the sooner we grow to be our best, most wonderful version – ourselves, the authentic ourselves.

I found my inner peace in the simplest way possible, in daily habits of sports activities. I found some moves that I really enjoy making combined with pilates stretching, 10 minutes of focus, daily and I’ve experienced a total shift of mood, energy boost, clearness in the mind, destress and all of it just by keeping up with the daily discipline of sports.

Seeing these amazing changes within myself, I realized that is so easy to just make the first step, and the first step for me was to set up my WHY! Why do I want to wake up from my bed 10 min earlier, especially now that we don’t have to be at kindergarten? Why do I want to take a break from cleaning the house and be selfish and have 10 min only for myself? Do I like so much sporting? Of course I do, I do love to sport, I just had to try and see which one of the sports activities I like more: is it yoga, pilates? Or fitness? maybe cardio training? only stretching?

The extraordinary in all of this is that I took this quest very seriously and after some deep research, I discovered that in order to keep you motivated and disciplined, you have to really enjoy what you are doing and to do what you are enjoying.

No matter what your favorite sports activities are, here my 8 reasons why I started to workout on a daily basis, at my home and what made me keep going:

  • Sports Supports Cognitive Function – a minimum of 10 mins per day, any kind of sport that you enjoy it can increase your capacity of remembering, problem-solving, even decision-making
  • Increase of the immunity system – exercising improves your overall fitness, which can help boost your immune system
  • Enhance the Quality of your Sleep – did you knew that sports contributes to a better sleep? However, give it a try during the day, not before you get ready to go for sleep
  • Increases Strength and blood flow Circulation – this is how I managed to get rid of my stiff muscles, and yeah, definitely it feels waaaay much better
  • Reduces Stress and Tension – exercising helped me reduce the levels of stress hormones in and it stimulates the production of endorphins. You all know this by now: happy mom, happy family 🙂
  • Supports Cardiovascular Health – sport can reduce the amount of work your heart does and improve its vascularisation to prevent it suffering
  • Clear your mind and helps you organize your home time, better – sporting improves your concentration and helps keep your key mental skills sharp. During my daily sport minutes, my creativity simply goes crazy and I get to do all this fun and innovative games together with my family, or sometimes I just sit and start writing, just like I am doing right now, when I am writing these lines
  • Boosts your good mood and optimism – sports cause the brain to release neurotransmitters known as endorphins, that create feelings of euphoria and reduce stress. It is so important for us to remain optimistic and kind with ourselves and with the people around us during this time.

Especially if you are a parent too, I know you enjoyed these top 8 reasons as much as I did when I wrote them. I am sure that probably you already started to reorganize your staying-at-home time to make room for 10 more minutes of sport daily, for yourself. Cause you really deserve it, and sporting is really helping us all overcoming better this interesting period.

 With love,
